Ugandan Teen, Miss High School, Aims for Harvard Law

Grace Amber Birungi, a 16-year-old student at Elite High School in Uganda, juggles her studies with her responsibilities as Miss High School 2024. Born in Kampala on May 31, 2008, to Dr.Olive Enid Nabiryo and Dr. Robert Kayiwa, Birungi now sets her sights on Harvard University, where she hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in law.
Birungi, also the assistant clubs prefect at her school, actively encourages students to engage in debates about their futures. Her passion for African culture and youth empowerment drives her ambition to study law and inspire other young Africans.
State Minister for Youth Affairs Balam barugahara recently recognized Birungi’s intelligence and skill during a visit to Uganda’s Parliament.
“I have fond and deep affection for tourism and I love nature…as an activist for youth empowerment, I hold much interest to study law at Harvard University,” said Grace Amber Birungi.
Her mother, Ms. Enid Nabiryo, also praised Birungi’s performance in English and her talents in modeling and swimming.
“She was too bright in modelling and too skillful in swimming…she is among the best students in English discpline at Elite High School,” said Ms. Enid Nabiryo.

Birungi continues to focus on her studies, hoping to secure sponsorship for her dream of attending Harvard and making a difference in Africa.
