Graz99ers Sign Defender Jimmy Oligny Ahead of Fehervar Clash
Experienced AHL Veteran Jimmy Oligny Joins Graz99ers Defense
Graz, Austria – The Moser Medical Graz99ers have bolstered their defensive lineup with the addition of veteran defenseman Jimmy Oligny. The 31-year-old Canadian brings a wealth of experience from ten seasons and 485 games in the American Hockey League (AHL), the NHL’s primary developmental league.
oligny,who most recently played for HKM Zvolen in Slovakia,arrives in Graz with an remarkable resume. He spent six seasons with the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, serving as captain for the past three.
“Jimmy is an absolute dream signing for us,” said Philipp Pinter, Sport Director of the Graz99ers. “He’s an excellent skater and will bring a strong physical presence to our game. We expect him to provide defensive stability and his character is a perfect fit for our team.”
Oligny’s leadership qualities were recognized in 2023 when he was awarded the AHL’s prestigious “Yanick Dupré Memorial award” as “Man of the Year.”
While Oligny won’t be available for tonight’s game against Fehervar AV19,his arrival is a significant boost for the Graz99ers as they enter a crucial phase of the season.
