Green Excellence: Han River Basin Environmental Office Claims Top International Honors for 11th Year Running
Han River Basin Environmental Office Receives Highest Grade in International Environmental Proficiency Evaluation
The Han River Basin Environmental Office has achieved the highest grade, Laboratory of Excellence, in the international environmental proficiency evaluation hosted by the U.S. Environmental Resources Association (ERA) in 2024.
This marks the 11th consecutive year since 2014 that the office has been certified as the best analysis agency, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in environmental testing and analysis.
The ERA is an international proficiency testing and assessment organization in the environmental field, accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/17043). The organization evaluates the analytical capabilities of environmental testing and analysis organizations worldwide.
With the increasing demand for high-quality environmental testing and analysis, numerous organizations (approximately 2,300 worldwide) participate in international proficiency assessments like the US ERA. The evaluation method involves the US ERA providing standard materials for quality control, and the resulting values are certified.
The Han River Basin Environmental Office participated in 53 items, including water quality phenol, drinking water heavy metals, and soil heavy metals, and received an ‘appropriate’ rating for all items. This ‘suitable’ rating proves the accuracy and excellence of the measurement analysis data, recognizing the office as an internationally accredited testing agency with world-class analysis techniques.
Commissioner Kim Dong-gu emphasized the importance of providing a stable supply of water to residents of the metropolitan area, stating that the office will continue to conduct research and make efforts to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test and analysis results.
