NFL 2024 Season: Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens Kick Off the Battle
The 2024 National Football League (NFL) season is set to begin with a highly anticipated opening game between the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs and the American Football League (AFC) powerhouse Baltimore Ravens on the morning of the 6th (Korean time). This season, Coupang Play will present NFL games to domestic fans through live Korean broadcasts.
The Kansas City Chiefs, who have won the Super Bowl for the past two years in a row, boast an impressive lineup featuring the best quarterback of its time, Patrick Mahomes, and tight end Travis Kelce, who is better known as the boyfriend of popular pop singer Taylor Swift. With their impressive track record of advancing to the Super Bowl four times in the past five years and winning three of them, they have built a dynasty in the NFL.
The Baltimore Ravens, who will face off against the Chiefs, are a powerhouse in the AFC North, having won the Super Bowl twice in the past. Last season, they were defeated by Kansas City in the AFC Championship, failing to advance to the Super Bowl. Notably, Korean-American player Kyle Hamilton, whose mother is Korean, was drafted for the 2022 season and is playing as a safety.
Coupang Play, which has been working to make the NFL more accessible to fans through beginner guide videos and interviews with Korean-American players since 2021, will live broadcast the 2024 season, starting with the opening game, up to the highly anticipated Super Bowl in February next year. The broadcasts will feature caster Jang-hee Han and commentator Yo-sep Lee working together to provide expert commentary and analysis.
