New Facility Enhances Public Safety Services
The city of Grimes, Iowa, and the johnston Grimes Metropolitan Fire District will host a grand opening for the new Grimes Public Safety Center on thursday at 5:30 p.m. The 16,500-square-foot facility is located at 2001 SW Sixth St. and will consolidate public safety resources.
The new center includes four bays for fire apparatus and dedicated meeting space for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office,which provides law enforcement services for Grimes. This co-location is intended to improve coordination between fire and law enforcement personnel.
Grand Opening Event Details
The grand opening ceremony will feature a ceremonial cutting of an old fire hose, symbolizing the transition to modern equipment and techniques. A swearing-in of new officers will also take place, formally recognizing their commitment to serving the community.
The public is invited to tour the new facility following the ceremony. Parking will be available in the northwest lot and along nearby streets,according to city officials.
