On Friday, October 23, 2026, Grok Imagine released the first seven-minute episode of an artificial intelligence-generated video series based on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, which Elon Musk shared with his followers on X that same night.
Production Details and Visuals
The first episode runs just over seven minutes and was posted in 4K by Grok Imagine, the image and video generator from SpaceXSI. The project was credited as a creative collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, both of whom specialize in AI filmmaking. The post on X included the message, Homer didn’t have Grok… we do.
Musk quote-posted the episode late Friday with the caption, Odyssey with Grok Imagine.
The cinematic take features a bearded lead in a dark cloak, a woman holding an infant, a small carved horse figurine, and a fleet of black-sailed ships crossing a gray sea.
Background and Prior Reactions
The release follows a July announcement where Musk promised that Grok Imagine would create a historically accurate
full-length feature version of Homer’s ancient Greek poem by the end of 2026. At the time, director Scott Derrickson addressed Musk directly on social media, writing, Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s. His opinions on art are worthless.
Musk also previously criticized upcoming cinema, claiming in March that Chris Nolan cast Elliot Page as Achilles’ Ghost and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy to satisfy Oscar eligibility standards, writing that Chris Nolan is an anti-White racist,
and that He wants the awards.
Future Plans
While Grok Imagine has not announced how many episodes are planned or when the next installment will arrive, the account asked viewers in the comments to let us know in the comments if you’d like a full breakdown of how it was done!
Earlier in the week, the account published a step-by-step guide for creators on generating animated AI videos using Grok Imagine canvases and style brainstorming.
