New system modernizes passenger transport, allowing choice beyond traditional card.
Starting friday, select cities now allow passengers to pay for public transportation using various contactless methods, along with teh existing “Go up” card system. Passengers can now use debit, credit, and prepaid contactless cards (Visa and Mastercard) issued by any bank, and also electronic wallets and smartwatches.

As of today, readers that admit payment with credit and debit cards are enabled on bus lines in Mendoza Capital; Rafael Río Cuarto; lines 4, 12, 34, 39, 61, 62 and 68 of the city of buenos Aires; and line number 1 of the AMBA.

In the coming weeks, the system will be enabled in Neuquén, san Luis, Tucumán, Rosario Sur, Tandil, and numerous lines of the AMBA area. A total of 31,000 UPR readers will be updated in groups of more then 60 cities nationwide and on seven AMBA train lines.

The authorization of new payment methods on public transportation will be extended to additional locations gradually. Implementation on trains and other locations will be communicated as start dates are confirmed, following the necessary installation and system updates.
Payment via QR code is slated to become available by the end of May for localities already offering option payment methods, in accordance with resolutions from the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic.
