Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature real-time drug consumption, interactive strip club mechanics, and detailed bloody violence alongside newly confirmed sex scenes, according to age classification listings published and subsequently removed by international rating boards. The upcoming open-world game, scheduled for release on November 19, has received 18+ classifications from European board PEGI as well as regional boards in Australia and New Zealand, providing the clearest look yet at the title’s mature content.
PEGI and PlayStation Store Listings Reveal Cocaine Mechanics and Sex Scenes
European rating board PEGI and PlayStation store pages in Australia and New Zealand published classification details for Grand Theft Auto 6 before the listings were quickly deleted. The European classification explicitly noted that players can carry cocaine in their inventory and snort it directly from their hand at any time during gameplay. While past entries like Grand Theft Auto 5 featured bongs inside player-owned properties, the sixth numbered installment marks the first time a protagonist can actively use hard drugs out in the open world.
The same PEGI report confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will include full nudity, scenes of sexual intercourse, and occasional depictions of sexual fetishes. In various night clubs, players can pay for private dances and manually move their hands onto the dancers’ breasts and buttocks. IGN reported that store pages in New Zealand and Australia specifically mentioned intercourse, separating the upcoming title from Grand Theft Auto 5, whose digital store descriptions mentioned sex more broadly without explicitly confirming scripted sex scenes or mo-capped intimate moments between protagonists Jason and Lucia.
Real-Time Violence and Interactive Open-World Details
Beyond chemical substances and adult themes, the ratings classifications outline an extensive breadth of visceral combat mechanics. PEGI noted that the open-world game features bloody violence with a high degree of realism, allowing players to harm all characters inhabiting the environment. Certain weapons inflict greater damage, resulting in detailed decapitation and dismemberment. Domestic animals roam the environment and can be harmed by the player, though their deaths generate less injury detail than human characters.
The language barrier in media and entertainment is also heavily tested within the game’s virtual world. The title features frequent strong language, including the word “fuck” and occasional use of the word “cunt,” alongside discriminatory language featured on in-game television shows and radio channels. The classifications noted optional in-game purchases for items, which are not required to complete the core experience.
Rockstar Games Launches Large-Scale Marketing Installations
Rockstar Games has maintained a promotional schedule as the release date approaches. IGN reported that the developer recently launched large-scale marketing installations, including an advertisement on top of the Miami Heat arena in Florida and new billboard placements across New York City, following research visits to strip clubs in Florida. With the launch window exactly one month away, additional promotional material and trailers are expected to arrive in the weeks leading up to November 19.
