Guinea’s Ministry of Territorial Administration Dissolves 50 Political Parties
In a significant move to “clean up the political field,” the Ministry of Territorial Administration of Guinea has dissolved 50 political parties following a comprehensive evaluation campaign launched in June. Additionally, the Ministry has suspended the activities of 50 other parties for failing to meet the required legal conditions.
Out of the 174 parties evaluated, none were found to meet all the legal requirements, prompting the Ministry to take action. The evaluation aimed to assess the parties’ compliance with the law and ensure they operate within the established framework.
The suspended parties have been given a three-month deadline to rectify their situation and address the identified violations. These violations include invalid licenses, lack of bank accounts, and administrative ambiguity. Failure to comply may result in further action, including suspension.
Furthermore, 60 other political parties, including prominent ones such as RPG, UFDG, and UFR, face a similar deadline to regularize their status. They must complete the necessary documents, hold conferences, and provide proof of payment to avoid suspension.
