Gunsan Police Department’s Suseong Precinct has implemented focused preventive activities to curb the spread of youth cyber gambling, achieving visible results in its efforts to address the growing concern of illegal online betting among teenagers.

The initiative, reported by Focus1 on April 16, 2026, represents a preemptive strategy by local law enforcement to combat the rising trend of illegal cyber gambling targeting young people in the Gunsan area.

This local action aligns with broader national efforts to protect youth from gambling-related harms, including the “Relay Campaign to Eradicate Youth Illegal Cyber Gambling” organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, in which KCGI Asset Management CEO Cho Won-bok recently participated.

CEO Cho Won-bok was nominated for the campaign by Kim Byung-chul of Hanyang Securities and subsequently nominated Bae Jae-kyu of Korea Investment Trust Management to continue the awareness-raising effort.

The campaign emphasizes the message that “illegal cyber gambling targeting youth is a fraud crime you can never win” and aims to foster a preventative social environment through public education and outreach.

Cho highlighted the importance of protecting young people from gambling dangers and promoting sound financial values, describing the issue as an urgent societal concern requiring collective action.

KCGI Asset Management has maintained an ongoing commitment to financial literacy among youth through educational programs and investment funds designed to build long-term assets and healthy investment habits.

Similarly, Korea Investment & Securities announced on March 10, 2026, that its CEO Kim Sung-hwan participated in the same relay campaign to prevent illegal gambling among youth, underscoring industry-wide engagement in the issue.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency launched the campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal online gambling among teenagers, which has been increasing in recent periods.

These coordinated efforts reflect growing concern over underage online gambling activities, with reports indicating that online casino gaming constitutes a significant portion of such incidents among young people.

While the Gunsan police initiative focuses on local enforcement and prevention, it contributes to a national movement involving financial institutions, law enforcement, and public officials working to shield youth from the risks associated with illegal cyber gambling platforms.
