Commons Tachikawa Tachihi will host the “GW Kids & Family Festival” from May 4 to May 6, 2026, featuring a large-scale vaulting box event and interactive activities designed to encourage physical engagement and challenge among children and families.
On May 4, the festival’s first day, Ortho Inc. Will organize a “Vaulting Box Day” with free spot lessons for children and a record-breaking event called “Gym Ortho Challenge the Box.” The event includes a demonstration by the owner of ‘Gorilla Monster,’ who holds world-class records in vaulting box performance.
The festival will feature a large vaulting box known as the “Monster Box,” with up to 25 levels (approximately 3.2 meters in height), allowing participants to attempt record-setting challenges. Free experience sessions will be available for elementary school-aged children and younger, using safe urethane materials to ensure accessibility for beginners.
On May 5 and 6, the festival shifts to a “play-focused” format with air play equipment, festival stalls, and a special booth by the local professional basketball team Tachikawa Dice. The booth will offer mini free-throw experiences and uniform displays, allowing families to engage with sports culture during Golden Week.
Admission to air play equipment and certain activities will be free for visitors who present a same-day receipt from within the facility showing a purchase of 1,000 yen or more. The event will be held at the first-floor plaza of Commons Tachikawa Tachihi and is accessible from Tama Monorail Tachihi Station and Takamatsu Station.
The festival is organized around the theme of “playing and challenging,” aiming to help children experience personal growth through physical activity. Event details are subject to change or cancellation due to weather, with some content moved indoors in case of rain.
