Haiti Couleurs’ Road to Chepstow
Trainer Rebecca bastin expressed satisfaction with haiti couleurs’ recovery from soreness following his run at Haydock. “We’re very happy with him,” she stated, adding that medication administered the Monday after the Haydock race appeared to have substantially improved his condition. The horse is preparing to compete in the three-mile-six-furlong Welsh Grand National at Chepstow.
Despite the challenge of carrying top weight, Bastin remains optimistic. “Obviously it’s quite a big ask off top-weight over that trip, but hopefully he might be the class horse in the race and he’ll give it a good shot.” She is also unconcerned about potential ground conditions, noting Haiti Couleurs has performed well on various surfaces.
A Historic Win on the Horizon
A victory in the Welsh Grand National would be a landmark achievement for Bastin. She previously came close to winning the race in 2013 with Teaforthree, who finished a narrow second to Monbeg Dude.”It would be brilliant,” Bastin said. “It’s a race we’ve tried a few times to win and Teaforthree just failed… It would be great to have it on the CV.”
