Hamas Seeks to End War in Gaza: 3 Reasons Behind Their Call for Peace
Hamas Seeks to End War in Gaza: 3 Key Reasons
Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, prioritizes ending the war in Gaza. They reject any agreements that do not stop the Israeli attacks.
1. Rebuilding Gaza
Hamas wants to rebuild Gaza and restore the lives of its people. Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri stated, “We will not accept any understanding that does not end our people’s suffering, ensure their return home, and allow for the complete reconstruction of Gaza.”
2. Weak Position of Arab and Islamic Nations
Abu Zuhri criticized the weak response from Arab and Islamic countries. He said, “For 415 days, the occupying state has continued its genocide against our people in Gaza, amidst a disappointing response from the Arab and Islamic world.” He emphasized that the sacrifices of their people will not be in vain.
3. Increased Violence in Jerusalem
Abu Zuhri condemned the increased Israeli settlement policies in Jerusalem and the West Bank, calling them a blatant violation of Palestinian rights. He noted that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law, a stance confirmed by the International Court. Hamas urges the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the UN to confront these settlement projects and encourages the Biden administration to pressure the occupation to cease its actions.
Hamas calls for increased resistance against the occupation and remains committed to the cause of Palestinian liberation.
