An 18-year-old German national living in Hamburg has been arrested under suspicion of murder and dangerous bodily harm by indirect perpetration, after allegedly driving a 14-year-old girl in the United States to suicide via social media, Bluewin reported on October 23, 2026.
The Arrest in Hamburg and Allegations from Indiana
Prosecutors and police in Hamburg jointly announced the arrest of the suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the alleged offenses in September and October 2026. Investigators state that the accused manipulated a vulnerable 14-year-old girl residing in the US state of Indiana into inflicting severe cutting injuries on herself.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the victim carved the suspect’s internet pseudonym, Kaz
, and the name of a group called NMK into walls using blood from her wounds. Several days after these injuries occurred, the teenager was found hanged in her room on October 2, 2026.
Discord Demands and Extortion Attempts
Investigators say the suspect used the communication platform Discord to direct the victim’s actions, demanding that she film herself cutting her skin and writing the group’s symbols. Law enforcement officials are currently examining whether the teenager also recorded her own strangulation on video.
Following the girl’s death, the 18-year-old allegedly attempted to obtain the recording of the fatal incident. Prosecutors state that he threatened members of the victim’s circle, warning them that he would publish compromising media of the girl unless they handed over the video footage.
The NMK Group Connection and FBI Involvement
Authorities believe the suspect sought the video material to gain entry into a network known as NMK, which stands for Nefarious Maniac Kult, or to establish status as a member of that group.
The criminal investigation into the German teenager began after the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded a tip to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which subsequently reached German law enforcement.
