Hamilton Lane, based in Conshohocken, Pa., has announced the final closing of its inaugural Venture Access Fund (VAF) with $615.3 million in commitments. The fund, which exceeded its $500 million target, will concentrate on high-performing venture funds and companies, utilizing both primary and secondary transactions to accelerate returns.
The venture capital fund attracted significant interest from various sources, including public and corporate pension funds, financial institutions, Taft-Hartley plans, family offices, and foundations. Hamilton Lane’s nearly 30 years of venture investing experience, along with its $117 billion in assets under management and administration across venture and growth equity, supports the fund.
The firm sees significant opportunities in the current venture capital market, notably those driven by artificial intelligence and other disruptive technologies. They also noted the potential in the secondary market as companies remain private for longer periods.
“VAF represents a unique opportunity for investors to gain exposure to what we beleive to be best-in-class venture capital managers, breakout companies, well-priced secondaries and high-potential co-investments,” said Miguel Luina, co-head of venture and growth equity at Hamilton Lane.
Hamilton Lane manages and supervises $956 billion in assets, including nearly $135 billion in discretionary assets and more than $821 billion in non-discretionary assets, as of Dec. 31, 2024.
