Hammer and Fist Wounds in Kingdom Come: New Content Reveal
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: Get Ready to Forge Your Legacy This September
Cologne, Germany – Warhorse studios is adding a new chapter to their critically acclaimed medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, with the upcoming DLC, ”Legacy of the Forge,” set to release in early September.I had the possibility to get a sneak peek at this exciting new content at Gamescom in Cologne, and I’m here to tell you, its more than just hammering metal.
Kingdom come: Deliverance 2 has already proven to be a massive success, selling over three million copies since its release in February. Now, Warhorse is building on that momentum with a DLC that promises to immerse players even deeper into the world of 15th-century Bohemia.
In “Legacy of the Forge,” players will return to Kutná Hora as Henry, stepping into the shoes of his stepfather Martin and embracing the blacksmithing trade. The core of the DLC revolves around restoring a dilapidated forge and building a legacy.
While the familiar mechanics of crafting weapons and horseshoe fittings remain – requiring players to find blueprints, gather resources, and master the crafting process – the renovation of the forge itself is a brand new experience. Players can access a “catalog” within the workshop to choose which parts of the interior and exterior to rebuild.
Restoring the facade and walls of the forge is purely aesthetic, but upgrading the garden and bedroom offers tangible benefits. Imagine raising a pig in your backyard, building a smokehouse, or even creating an alchemical corner for brewing potions. An improved bed can even enhance Henry’s abilities.
Of course, such improvements come at a cost. Each upgrade requires a critically important amount of groschen, and not all options are available from the start. Players will earn prestige points by completing tasks and fulfilling blacksmith orders, unlocking more attractive and useful items in the catalog.
But “Legacy of the Forge” isn’t just about crafting and construction. As I discovered in my hands-on demo, Henry’s blacksmithing skills will lead him down unexpected paths. Even a seemingly simple task, like helping a local resident with a toothache, can quickly escalate into a city-wide chase and a good old-fashioned fistfight. While my time with the demo was limited, Warhorse promises that the final version of “Legacy of the Forge,” releasing on September 9th, will offer a much richer and more complex story. According to Warhorse’s Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the DLC will provide up to 20 hours of new gameplay.”Legacy of the Forge” looks to be a compelling addition to kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, offering players a chance to build their own legacy, one hammer swing at a time. Get ready to return to Kutná Hora and forge your destiny this September.
