Taiwan Democracy Foundation Appoints New CEO and Deputy CEO

The Taiwan Democracy Foundation held a board meeting on the 25th, where the decision was made to appoint Liao Daki as the new CEO and Lu Yezhong as the Deputy CEO. This decision was made after a discussion by the board of directors, which includes Chairman Han Guiyu, CEO of the Institute of Political Science of Sun Yat-sen University and professor, Zhen Chu, and Professor Lu of National Chengchi University.
Liao Daki, who was born in a second-generation military village, has shown his influence, professionalism, and ability to execute in the field of democratic movement and diplomacy. He became the president in 2020 and has been a long-time acquaintance of Han Guiyu.
Lu Yezhong, who was originally President Han’s preferred candidate for CEO, has been deeply involved in foreign policy for a long time and has actively participated in international exchange activities. He has published numerous books in related research fields and has served as a keynote speaker for the “U.S. Department of Education and Academic Exchange Foundation” and as a visiting scholar for the “U.S. Department of State’s International Leadership Visiting Program” on political party leaders.
Han Guiyu thanked Lu Yezhong for stepping down as Deputy CEO and continuing to support the Democracy Foundation. He also stated that the role of transcending the will of political parties and practical democracy in line with national interests and effective diplomacy have paved the way for a new situation in the Republic of China’s diplomatic dilemma.
