Hana Gowda becomes first Arab and African player to medal at prestigious junior event
Stockholm, Sweden – 17-year-old Hana Gowda has etched her name in table tennis history, securing a bronze medal at the World Championships for Men and Women Juniors in Sweden. This remarkable achievement makes Gowda the first Arab and African player to ever stand on the podium at the World Junior WomenS Championship.
Gowda clinched the bronze medal with a decisive 4-1 victory over a German opponent. This latest triumph adds to Gowda’s already impressive resume. She previously competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making history as the youngest participant at just 13 years old.Gowda also represented Egypt at the 2024 Paris Olympics, again as the youngest member of the table tennis delegation.

Hana Gowda: I fell in love with table tennis at a very young age. It’s such a fast-paced, exciting sport.I love the challenge of constantly improving and testing my skills against the best players in the world.

Hana Gowda: I always try to stay focused on my game and trust my training. In the bronze medal match, I knew I had to give it everything I had. I visualized my shots, stayed calm under pressure, and believed in myself.
