The release of six more hostages from Gaza in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and detainees is under way, following Israel’s confirmation that a body handed over hours earlier was that of hostage Shiri Bibas.

The sixth hostage, believed to be Hisham Al-Sayed, held in Gaza since 2015, is expected to be freed later today.

Mr. Mengistu’s family, who have endured over a decade of “unimaginable suffering” during his captivity, said in a statement, “We gather in anxious anticipation of the return of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Averu.”

Also, Israel anticipates releasing 602 Palestinian prisoners and detainees held in its jails — part of an exchange strategy that so far has held up. Under the truce, Israel is also set to release another 602 Palestinian prisoners and detainees as part of this agreement.
