Hanmi Pharmaceutical Expands into Chinese Market with 7 General Medicines

Hanmi Pharmaceutical has announced that it will sell seven general medicines developed in-house in China through Shanghai Pharma Health Science, a subsidiary of Shanghai Pharma Group, one of China’s largest pharmaceutical companies.

Shanghai Pharmaceutical Group, a Chinese state-owned enterprise, is a global big pharma with about 200 subsidiaries and 50,000 employees, and achieved sales of about 260.3 billion yuan (about 50 trillion won) last year.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical has signed a supply contract with Shanghai Pharmaceutical for seven types of general pharmaceuticals, including Mok-an (pharyngitis), Ko-an (nasal moisturizer), Ko-an Cool (rhinitis/nasal congestion), Moxidal 3%, 5% (hair loss), Lumagel (anti-inflammatory analgesic), and Powergel (local anesthesia). The products will begin supplying in early July and begin full-scale local distribution in September.

The products will be introduced into Chinese e-commerce platforms through Shanghai Pharmaceutical and then into offline pharmacies in Hong Kong. Hanmi Pharm plans to further accelerate its development of overseas markets by expanding the scope of its cooperation with various partner companies.

A Hanmi Pharmaceutical official stated, “It is very meaningful that various Hanmi general pharmaceutical products that have proven their superior product capabilities in the Korean market are entering the Chinese market, thanks to the global popularity of Korean products and brands.”
