Missing maui Woman Found Safe, Family Alleges Green Card Scam Involvement
Los Angeles, CA – Hannah Kobayashi, the Maui woman who sparked a nationwide search after missing a flight from LAX, has been found safe, according to her family. However, the case has taken a dramatic turn with allegations of a possible green card marriage scam.
kobayashi, 24, was reported missing on August 10th after failing to board a flight back to Hawaii.Los Angeles police confirmed she intentionally missed her flight and appeared unharmed in airport surveillance footage.
Her disappearance coincided with the tragic suicide of her father, who took his own life just weeks later. The family revealed that Kobayashi had contacted them recently, assuring them of her well-being.
Adding another layer of complexity,Kobayashi’s relatives claim they discovered immigration documents at her Maui home, suggesting a possible connection to a green card marriage scam. The validity of this claim remains unconfirmed.
“We are relieved that Hannah is safe,” a family spokesperson said. “However, we are deeply concerned about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the potential involvement of a marriage scam.”
The family has since deactivated a GoFundMe page that raised nearly $50,000 for search efforts and her father’s funeral expenses. They are also offering refunds to donors.
The LAPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Kobayashi’s disappearance and the alleged green card scam.
Hannah Kobayashi Found Safe: Family Alleges Green Card Scam

Dr.Emily Carter, Immigration Law specialist:
“The Kobayashi case presents a complex situation with serious legal implications. If the family’s suspicions about a potential green card marriage scam prove true, several laws could be violated.
Firstly, entering into a marriage solely for immigration purposes is considered fraud and can lead to charges against both parties involved.
Secondly, if anyone knowingly facilitated this scheme – such as providing false documentation or acting as a proxy – they could face accusations of conspiracy and aiding and abetting immigration fraud.
The fact that Ms. Kobayashi is now safe allows authorities to focus on the potential fraud. They will likely investigate the validity of the marriage, scrutinize any immigration documents, and interview anyone who might have knowledge of the alleged scheme.
It’s crucial for Ms. Kobayashi to cooperate with authorities to avoid any legal repercussions herself. If she was coerced or misled, she could be granted relief from potential penalties. However, if she knowingly participated in the scam, she could face serious consequences, including deportation and a permanent bar from entering the United states.”
