September 2, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Business

On the 2nd, Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries held an entrance ceremony for international students selected through the ‘Developing Countries Youth Farmers Education Project.’

The educational project that is being implemented for the first time this year is a project to foster excellent young farmers in developing countries through Han Nong University’s practical education program. A total of three international students will be admitted. Applicants were accepted from three countries where Korea’s official development assistance (ODA) projects are most active: Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, and one student per country was selected. They entered the country sequentially starting in August, completed a pre-adaptation program, and will participate in the regular semester starting in September to receive theoretical and practical education.

Mr. Suk Samai, a Laotian student who attended the initiation ceremony, expressed his expectations, saying, “After receiving training in agricultural machinery and smart farms, I believe it will help me settle into farming when I return to my home country.”

Park Yong-su, acting president of Hanyang University, said, “Through this educational program, I hope that Hanyang University, which is an elite agricultural training institution in Korea, will serve as a bridgehead for the international expansion of Korean-style agriculture, and that students will use this opportunity to enhance their international awareness and develop ideas for starting a farming or fishing business through exchanges that transcend national borders.”
