HarbourView Secures $500M for Music Rights Portfolio expansion
HarbourView Equity Partners,a data-driven investor focused on entertainment and finance, has obtained an additional $500 million in securitized debt financing. The financing is supported by its extensive music rights portfolio, with KKR-managed insurance vehicles participating. This follows a similar $500 million financing deal in March 2024, which also involved KKR entities.
Since its founding in 2021, HarbourView has amassed a diverse collection of over 70 music catalogs, encompassing more than 35,000 songs with both master and publishing rights. The portfolio includes rights to music by artists such as Fleetwood Mac,Bruno Mars,Pat Benatar,George benson, and Justin Bieber.
Sherrese clarke Soares, founder and CEO, emphasized the long-term value of music rights as an asset. “We see a tremendous prospect to continue investing in evergreen intellectual property, which we believe is historically uncorrelated to broader market volatility and forms a powerful diversification tool,” Soares said.
HarbourView has also expanded its role into media production, co-financing a series of Hip Hop biopics alongside Westbrook Studios, Flavor Unit, and Jesse Collins Entertainment. The firm also backed “Usher: Rendezvous in Paris,” a 2024 concert film.
The company now oversees approximately $2.67 billion in regulatory assets. Barclays structured the transaction exclusively, with Barclays and KKR Capital markets acting as placement agents. Fifth Third Bank served as a passive placement agent.
What’s next
With this new funding, HarbourView is positioned to further expand its investments in music rights and explore additional opportunities within the entertainment sector.
