Harmony in Jeonju: Where Poetry and Music Unite in a Magical Forest Reading Performance

[미디어투데이=김광수 기자] Jeonju City held a ‘Forest Reading Performance’ featuring poetry, music, and reading at the Haksan Forest Poetry Library at 2 p.m. on the 31st.

On this day, poet Kim So-yeon and musician Choi Go-eun appeared as performers at the reading performance in the forest, and had a meaningful time interacting with each other through poetry and song under the theme of ‘Return outside of time.’

In particular, the citizens who watched the performance were moved by the time when poetry and music came together, reading the poet’s poetry collection, playing music, and asking and answering questions about each other’s well-being.

Poet Kim So-yeon debuted through the Contemporary Poetry Society in 1993 and has continued her literary career. She has published collections of poetry and prose, including △Promoting Night, △To i, △Morning of the Mathematician, △Bite the Molar, △In Those Good Times, and △There is No Love in Love. did it Poet Kim is widely recognized for his work as a poet, winning the 21st Contemporary Poetry Award in 2020, the 12th Yuksa Poetry Award in 2015, and the 57th Contemporary Literature Award in 2012.

Choi Go-eun, a singer and songwriter who was in charge of conversations and musical performances with poet Kim So-yeon, won a total of three categories at the 2018 and 2015 Korean Popular Music Awards (of the year) with her album △Nomad Syndrome △I WAS, I AM, I WILL. He was nominated (recommended) for Folk Album, Folk Music of the Year, and Musician of the Year, and has also been active overseas, including at the UK’s Womad Festival and the UK’s Glastonbury Festival.

Choi Hyeon-chang, head of the Jeonju City Library Division, said, “The wonderful communication between poets and musicians created a wonderful reading performance where poetry, music, and conversation flowed.” He added, “We will continue to hold various programs such as lectures and performances to help poetry and citizens meet at Haksan Forest Poetry Library.” “We will continue to excavate it,” he said.
