Harmony in Motion: The Timeless Elegance of the NHK Symphony Orchestra
In May 2025, the NHK Symphony Orchestra will perform in Europe for the first time in five years, in six cities in five countries: Belgium (Antwerp), the Netherlands (Amsterdam), Austria (Vienna, Innsbruck), Czech Republic (Prague), and Germany (Dresden). We will be holding 8 concerts.
This tour was organized in response to an invitation to “Mahler Festival 2025” to be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. At the festival, top orchestras from around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the local Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, perform all of Mahler’s symphonies in numerical order, attracting the attention of fans around the world. In addition, we will participate in traditional music festivals such as the Prague Spring Festival and the Dresden Music Festival.
The orchestra will be conducted by Fabio Luigi, who will become chief conductor in 2022. We have led numerous performances to success, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 “Symphony of a Thousand” at the 2000th regular performance (December 2023). This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase the artistic achievements that Luigi and the NHK Symphony Orchestra have spent three years cultivating in their homeland. Also included are Rudolf Buchbinder (piano), Yin Huang (soprano), Olesya Petrova (mezzo-soprano), Matthias Goerne (baritone), Akiko Suwanai (violin), and Jan Vogler ( In addition to continuing to perform with world-class soloists, including the cello), he also collaborated with local choirs (Dutch Radio Choir/Dutch Children’s Choir) in Mahler’s Third Symphony in Amsterdam. Masu.
As conflicts and divisions between nations intensify around the world, through this tour we hope to connect people through music and serve as a bridge for cultural exchange between Japan and Europe. Please look forward to “N Hibiki Europe Performance 2025”.
