Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, and former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, have expressed differing positions on the Israeli military’s recovery of the bodies of six Israeli hostages who died while being held captive by Hamas, including an American dual citizen.
In a statement posted on her X account on the 1st (local time), US Vice President Harris said, “Hamas is an evil terrorist organization,” and “with this murder, Hamas now has the blood of more Americans on its hands.”
“The threat Hamas poses to Israel and the American people in Israel must be eliminated, and Hamas must not rule Gaza,” he wrote.
Vice President Harris also offered condolences to the family of one of the dead hostages, U.S. dual citizen Hershey Goldberg-Pauline.
Goldberg-Pauline’s parents previously spoke at the Democratic National Convention last month.
Meanwhile, former President Trump posted on his social media platform, TruthSocial, saying, “I am saddened by the deaths of Israeli hostages, including American citizen Hershey Goldberg Paulin, by Hamas due to a lack of American power and leadership.”
He continued, “This is happening because Vice President Harris and President Joe Biden are poor leaders,” denouncing “a total lack of leadership.”
