[워싱턴=뉴시스] Correspondent Lee Yoon-hee = Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has announced that if she wins the election, she plans to appoint Republicans to her cabinet.

In an interview with CNN scheduled to be released at 9 p.m. (local time) on the 29th, Harris said, “I think it’s important to have people with different views and experiences at the table when making important decisions,” adding, “I think it’s in the American people’s interest to have Republicans in the Cabinet.”

Although he did not name any specific personnel, he revealed that he may also hire personnel from the other side for the purpose of unification.

“With 68 days until Election Day, I’m not going to put the cart before the horse,” Harris said. “But I will. I’ve spent my career listening to a wide range of opinions.”

Harris appeared on CNN with her running mate Tim Walz, her first media interview since becoming a presidential candidate. The interview will air on the 30th at 10 a.m. Korean time.

CNN reported that in the interview that day, candidate Harris stated her position in response to questions about current issues such as the climate crisis and borders.

In particular, there was a question about his change of position after becoming Vice President, when he declared during the 2020 presidential primary that he would ban shale gas extraction using hydraulic fracturing (fracking).

“We set a goal for the United States and the world to meet a baseline for reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” Harris said, referring to the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). “That value has not changed.”
