As you enter Pu’er Sun River Forest Park, magical greetings – “Ai Ha, Sun River” echo throughout the scenic area.

“Ai Ha, Sun River” is a new greeting in Pu’er Sun River. “Ai Ha” originates from the language of the Wa ethnic group. The greeting can be translated as “Welcome to Sun River”. The enthusiastic staff welcomes tourists and friends from all directions with this unique greeting.

Pu’er Sun River Forest Park, as the “green heart” of Pu’er, has a forest coverage rate of 97.45%, preserving China’s largest and most complete subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest. The negative oxygen ions in the air remain at 20,000 to 30,000 all year round, making it a veritable “forest oxygen bar”, allowing tourists to get close to nature in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and feel the charm of biodiversity.

Tourists take a sightseeing bus deep into the park and come to a path surrounded by tropical rainforest.

“This road is called the ‘Three Treasures’ trail, where we grow dendrobium, coffee and tea. We can also see rare plants such as golden dog fern, southern Yunnan wolfberry and cliff ginger on both sides of the road.” Ru Zhihong, a staff member of Pu’er Sun River Forest Park, introduced, “We have preserved China’s largest and most complete southern subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest, Simiao pine forest and a small number of precious seasonal rainforests. There are as many as 215 families, 883 genera and 2,104 species of higher plants above ferns here, many of which are national first- and second-level key protected plants.”

Passing through the “Three Treasures” trail, visitors are fascinated by the Rhino Retreat, Macaque Paradise, Fish Shadow Stream Tracing, Alsophila Trail, Monkey Peninsula, Jiaoguatang Wetland, Boonie Bears, Traveling Red Pandas, Bird Paradise and other attractions. Everyone took photos and checked in, interacted with the small animals at close range, and had a great time. Bursts of laughter echoed in the forest.

“We came here from Beijing for fun. Today we came to Pu’er Sun River Forest Park. We saw a lot of cute animals here. Unlike going to a zoo, here we can interact with the animals up close. The natural environment around us is also very good. It is especially worth coming here. I feel very relaxed and can forget the fast-paced life. It is very healing.” Tourist Liu Xueyi said with a smile.

In the scenic area, children can be seen everywhere, led by their parents. “Today I saw many small animals I have never seen before, including rhinos, sika deer, raccoons, etc. They are all very cute. I also saw many rare plants that are not in textbooks. I am very happy and I want to come here again next holiday.” said Kong Ruishi, a young tourist.

During this Mid-Autumn Festival, Pu’er Sun River Forest Park launched special Mid-Autumn Festival activities such as exploring the Sun River and strolling in the rainforest, Mid-Autumn Festival vacation with red pandas, fan meeting of the internet celebrity gibbon “Ding Ding”, making Mid-Autumn Festival dinner for the little animals, birthday party for the gibbon “Yuan Yuan”, picking fresh fruits and making delicious food. The park also provides tourists with a lovely scenic area-exclusive electric car pick-up service, which enriches the cultural and tourism products while greatly enhancing the tourists’ travel experience.

“This Mid-Autumn Festival, we specially made mooncakes for the small animals using green and healthy ingredients such as fruits and sweet potatoes. Then we and our tourists served the delicious mooncakes to the small animals so that the ‘furry children’ could also feel the festive atmosphere. At the same time, we also wish our tourists a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.” said Lou Zihan, a staff member of Pu’er Sun River Forest Park.

It is reported that during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the number of visitors to Pu’er Sun River Forest Park increased by 30% compared with usual.
