Hasan Ali delivered a stellar performance, claiming a hat trick for the Bears against the Falcons in the T20 Blast. The right-arm fast bowler’s devastating spell helped secure a crucial victory.
Ali’s impact was immediate. In his first over at Edgbaston,he dismissed David Lloyd and Martin Andersson in fast succession. later,he returned to remove Ross whiteley, caught by George Garton for 50,followed by Alex Thomson, who was out for a duck on the very next ball. Ben Aitchison then faced the hat-trick delivery.
the 30-year-old bowler then proceeded to bowl Pat Brown with the first ball of his fourth over, securing his fourth wicket in five balls and wrapping up Derbyshire’s innings for 141.
“When I got two wickets I spoke with Tom Latham and we were making plans for the next ball,” Hasan said. “He (Aitchison) was standing on the leg side and I said I should go for the yorker and it succeeded and I got my first hat-trick in T20.”
Hasan became only the fifth Bears bowler to achieve a T20 hat trick, joining Jimmy Anyon,Imran tahir,Keith Barker, and Jeetan Patel in the record books.
Now in his third season at Edgbaston, Ali is focused on helping the Bears reach finals day.
