HCU enters the weekend with a 2-12 overall record and is searching for its first conference victory after opening the 2026 campaign with two home matches. Texas A&M Corpus Christi holds a 4-9 overall record but sits at 2-0 in Southland play following early conference wins over Nicholls and McNeese. Huskies Seek Bounce-Back Performance Against Islanders

The Huskies lean heavily on Katy Barger to anchor their offensive production. On the defensive side of the net, Allana Archie paces the squad with 42 total blocks while also contributing 114 kills.

Thursday’s matchup marks the first leg of a two-match Texas road trip for HCU.

Valley Trip to Face UTRGV on Saturday

Following Thursday’s contest, HCU travels further south into the Rio Grande Valley to meet the UTRGV Vaqueros on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026. The match begins at noon and will also be broadcast live on ESPN+.

UTRGV enters the weekend holding a 6-7 overall record alongside a matching 2-0 mark in Southland competition, having also secured victories against McNeese and Nicholls. The Vaqueros feature a dual threat on offense and defense in Ema Petkovic and Julianna Bryant. Petkovic has tallied 156 kills and 83 digs, while Bryant has added 92 kills and 49 blocks.

Upcoming Conference Schedule on the Road

The rigorous Southland Conference schedule forces HCU to remain away from home following this weekend’s action. The Huskies continue their travels next week with a match against Lamar on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, followed by a contest at SFA on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026.
