DispatchHealth,aveanna Expand home-Based Care Reach with Major Deals

Two important deals are set to broaden the landscape of home-based care. DispatchHealth and Medically Home have finalized their merger, while Aveanna Healthcare has completed its acquisition of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care.
The merger of DispatchHealth and Medically home, first announced in March, creates a combined entity focused on delivering a comprehensive range of complex care in patients’ homes. Jennifer Webster, CEO of DispatchHealth, said the merger will make it easier for health systems and payers to offer complex care outside customary settings, creating a more connected experience.
DispatchHealth, which offers hospital-at-home services and has treated over 1.2 million people in more than 20 states, will integrate Medically Home’s technology platform and clinical command center model. The combined institution will operate under the DispatchHealth brand, offering emergency room (ER)-option care, hospital-alternative care, and transitional care.
“This merger brings to life a shared vision in ways neither organization could have achieved alone,” Dr. Pippa Shulman, chief medical officer at DispatchHealth, said.
Webster will remain CEO of DispatchHealth. Graham Barnes, CEO of Medically Home, is stepping down. Shulman will serve as chief medical officer. David Wilkinson will serve as chief financial officer,Bill Kramer as chief legal officer,Diana Verrilli as chief growth officer,Jessica Landin as chief operations officer,J.T.Hedges as chief people officer and Erin Bartley as chief transformation officer.
In a separate move, Aveanna Healthcare Holdings Inc. has finalized its acquisition of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care, LLC, for $75 million. Aveanna announced the plan in April.
Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care,with 23 locations across seven states,provides skilled private duty nursing,pediatric therapy,and othre services. Aveanna Healthcare, based in Atlanta, offers a variety of pediatric and adult health care services across 34 states.
Jeff Shaner, CEO of Aveanna, said the addition of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care creates a tremendous growth opportunity.He added that Thrive SPC is an exceptional company with a perfect geographical fit, and together they share a commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care.
