According to ⁣a statement from the London Fire Brigade, “a transformer inside an electrical substation⁤ in hayes,⁤ west of London, was on fire.”

As a precaution, authorities evacuated around ‌150 ⁢people and established a 200-meter cordon. Firefighters also safely evacuated 29 individuals from nearby properties. the fire brigade was called⁢ to the scene around 11:23 p.m.⁣ local time ⁣on Thursday, and⁢ the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Deputy Commissioner⁣ Pat Goulbourne stated,​ “As we move into the ⁢morning, ⁤disruption is expected to increase, and we urge⁤ people‍ to ⁢avoid the area wherever possible.”

Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 reported that over 1,350 flights to or from Heathrow would be affected on ​Friday.‍ The site also indicated that 120 flights were ‍airborne when the announcement was made and had to be diverted to other airports or returned to their origin.
