The city of Helena partnered with The Church at Old Town to co-host an annual Easter egg hunt at Joe Tucker Park on the morning of April 4, 2026. The event served as part of a broader series of Easter celebrations held across Shelby County during the first weekend of April.
The celebration took place between 9:30 a.m. And 11:00 a.m., offering a variety of activities for local families. In addition to the egg hunt, children in attendance were provided opportunities to blow bubbles, color, and use the park’s playground. The event also provided a space for parents to interact with friends and other community members.
Age-Based Hunt Schedule
To organize the event, the city and the church implemented a staggered hunting schedule based on the age of the participants:

- Children in Pre-K and under hunted for eggs continually throughout the morning.
- Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade began their hunt at 9:30 a.m.
- Students in 2nd and 3rd grade hunted at 10:00 a.m.
- Students in 4th and 5th grade conducted their hunt at 10:30 a.m.
Community Partnership Goals
The Church at Old Town, located across the street from Joe Tucker Park, collaborated with the city to facilitate the gathering. Josh Knierim, the lead pastor of The Church at Old Town, stated that the partnership is intended to help the church build a deeper bond with the local population.
One of the things we love to do is just connect with our community. We’re right across the street, so we get to come over here and put on this great event. We work with the city to make it awesome. We’re really thrilled, it’s just a great way to connect with so many families in Helena.
Josh Knierim, lead pastor of The Church at Old Town
Knierim noted that the event is a recurring annual goal for the church, focusing on supporting local families and helping them create memories. He described the Easter season as an important season
for the organization and expressed that the event provides a valuable chance to get to know more folks and be part of the town.
