British Navy Helicopter Crashes During Exercise in English Channel
MOSCOW, September 5 (Sputnik) – A British Navy helicopter crashed during an exercise in the English Channel, killing one soldier, the British Navy announced.
The British Navy posted on the social network X that “We are deeply sorry to report that a member of the Royal Navy was killed in a plane crash during an exercise last night.”
A full investigation will be carried out. No one else was killed or injured when the Merlin Mk4 helicopter crashed into the English Channel off the coast of Dorset during an exercise with the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Defence Secretary John Healy expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
