This meeting occurred on Sunday, November 24, 2024, following a unanimous decision by the leaders of the INDIA bloc to elect Soren as their legislature party leader after winning the state assembly elections.
Before making his claim, Soren resigned from his position as chief minister. He reported to the press that he presented a letter of support from his alliance partners to the governor, who invited him to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony is planned for November 28.
Soren successfully retained his Barhait seat in the Jharkhand assembly elections, defeating the BJP candidate Gamliyel Hembrom by a significant margin of 39,791 votes. He received 95,612 votes, while Hembrom garnered 55,821 votes.
Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay confirmed that Soren has been unanimously chosen as the leader of the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand. Sahay expressed that all party workers and leaders supported Soren as the leader of the Jharkhand Assembly.
In the recent elections, Soren’s JMM-led alliance secured a decisive victory, winning 56 out of 81 seats in the assembly. This victory marks Soren’s second consecutive term. The BJP-led NDA managed to win only 24 seats, with the BJP accounting for 21 seats out of that total.
