Hempstead Woman Charged with Practicing Unlicensed Dentistry
Nassau County, NY – A 70-year-old Hempstead woman is facing charges after allegedly performing dental procedures without a license, Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced. Gladys Serrano was arrested and charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, a felony.According to the District Attorney’s office, Serrano allegedly operated an unlicensed dental practice out of her home, offering services such as teeth cleaning, fillings, and extractions.
“This defendant allegedly preyed on vulnerable individuals seeking affordable dental care,putting their health at serious risk,” said DA Donnelly. “Practicing dentistry without a license is not only illegal but incredibly risky. It can lead to infections,permanent damage,and other serious complications.”
The inquiry into Serrano’s activities began after a complaint was filed with the Nassau County Police Department.
Serrano faces up to four years in prison if convicted. The District Attorney’s office urges anyone who may have received dental treatment from Serrano to contact their office.
