Urand Claims European Para-Triathlon Title

Henry Urand,the British para-triathlete,secured the European title in Besancon,France,adding to his world crown. his performance underscored his role as a leading athlete in the sport.

Urand, 22, who finished fourth at the ⁣Paris Paralympics in the PTS3 division, completed the race in 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 41 seconds. He ​outpaced his nearest competitor,Germany’s Max Gelhaar,a Paralympic silver medalist,by nearly a minute and a half.

despite a slow start in the swim, Urand⁢ steadily gained ground during the bike leg, positioning himself to contend for the lead. ⁣He then surged‌ ahead⁢ during the run,securing the gold medal.

Fellow British athletes also achieved success. Mel Nicholls ⁢earned a silver​ medal in the women’s wheelchair division, and Josh Landman secured a bronze in the men’s ‍wheelchair event.

Though, ⁤Dave Ellis and⁢ his guide, Luke Pollard, experienced disappointment. A mechanical problem forced them to end their men’s VI race‌ prematurely.
