On Friday, September 27, a dramatic scene unfolded in Atlanta, USA, as a weather reporter interrupted his live broadcast to rescue a woman trapped in her car by floodwaters.
Fox meteorologist Bob Van Dillen was reporting from the scene, standing in the rain with vehicles trapped by floodwaters behind him. As he spoke, a woman’s cries for help grew louder, prompting Bob to spring into action.
Bob immediately called 911 and waited for rescuers to arrive. Meanwhile, the woman’s desperate screams filled the air, and Bob knew he had to act fast.
“Something’s going on right now. We’ll come back live later. Let me see if I can help this lady,” Bob said, before walking into the water to rescue the trapped woman.
With the water chest-deep, Bob carefully carried the woman to safety, saving her from the flooded car. Later, he described the harrowing scene, saying the water had almost reached the woman’s neck.
The dramatic rescue came as Super Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida, bringing violent storms and rain. The hurricane has left a trail of destruction, killing at least 43 people and leaving millions without power. Six states – Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Virginia – have declared a state of emergency, with 60 million people under surveillance and warning notices.
