Israel Launches Strikes on Lebanon in Response to Hezbollah’s Actions
Israel has initiated a comprehensive military operation against Lebanon, targeting various locations affiliated with the terrorist organization Hezbollah. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched the attack shortly after Hezbollah’s televised address condemning the pager and walkie-talkie attacks.
The IDF has stated that its primary objective is to dismantle Hezbollah’s terrorist capabilities and infrastructure. For decades, Hezbollah has been known to arm civilian homes, construct tunnels beneath them, and utilize civilians as human shields, effectively transforming south Lebanon into a war zone.
The IDF is working to establish security in northern Israel, enabling residents to return to their homes and achieve war objectives. The military operation aims to neutralize the threat posed by Hezbollah and restore stability to the region.
Recent Developments
On Tuesday, pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded in Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people and injuring 2,750. The blasts occurred in various locations, particularly in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold.
Hezbollah had instructed its members to abandon their mobile phones and rely on their own telecommunications system to prevent Israeli interception. However, the walkie-talkies and pagers, which were purchased by Hezbollah five months ago, were compromised, leading to the devastating explosions.
Israel’s spy agency, the Mossad, is suspected of planting explosives in the imported devices. A Taiwanese pager manufacturer has denied involvement in the production of the explosive devices.
In response to the blasts, Hezbollah fired rockets at Israeli artillery, escalating tensions between the two sides. The situation remains volatile, with the potential for further conflict.
