La Rioja,Spain – A new study reveals that a critically important percentage of teenagers in la Rioja are experiencing high levels of psychological well-being and quality of life. The findings,published in the book ”Fortalezas psicológicas en la adolescencia. Resultados del Estudio PSICE en La Rioja,” are based on research conducted by a team of experts from the University of La Rioja, the University of Oviedo, and the University of Valencia.
The study, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the European Regional Advancement Fund, Psicofundación, and the Government of La Rioja, aimed to analyze psychological strengths among adolescents in La Rioja’s educational settings.
Researchers surveyed 2,235 students from 34 schools across the region, with an average age of 14.49 years.They assessed various psychological indicators,including emotional well-being,subjective quality of life,prosocial behavior,positive affect,self-esteem,sense of belonging to their school,and perceived social support.
“The results show that a large number of adolescents in La Rioja report high levels of emotional well-being and subjective quality of life,” said Eduardo Fonseca Pedrero, lead researcher of the project.
For example, the study found that approximately 84-90% of the surveyed teens felt positive or happy in the week leading up to the survey.
this research highlights the importance of accessible, timely, inclusive, public, and high-quality psychological care for young people. The findings provide valuable insights into the well-being of adolescents in La Rioja and can inform the development of targeted interventions and support programs to further enhance their mental health and overall well-being.
