High School Student Arrested After Stabbing Female Peer in Loire-Atlantique

A teenage girl was seriously injured after being stabbed on Friday, April 10, 2026, at a high school in Ancenis-Saint-Gereon, located in the Loire-Atlantique department of western France.

The victim, a 15-year-old student, suffered a stab wound to the abdomen. She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition immediately following the attack.

According to reports from RTL France, the attack was carried out by another student attending the same institution. The Loire-Atlantique prefecture described the incident as stemming from a personal dispute.

Suspect Apprehension and Investigation

The suspect was initially restrained by teaching staff, including the school’s principal, before being arrested by authorities. The individual was subsequently taken into police custody and placed in garde à vue.

During the investigation, authorities seized knives at the scene. Reports indicate that the two students involved previously shared strong friendship ties.

BFM has reported that the condition of the 15-year-old victim has since stabilized and her life is no longer considered to be in danger.
