High-Stakes Trial: Saad al-Saghir Faces Justice Over Shocking Drug Charges

Not long ago, singer Saad al-Saghir arrived at the North Cairo Criminal Court held in Abbasiya to hear the first session of his trial on drug charges.

The Public Prosecution ordered the accused Saad al-Saghir to be referred to the appropriate criminal court. To punish him for being charged with possession of two narcotics, hashish and tramadol, with intent to use them other than as permitted by law.

It began its investigation by questioning three employees at Cairo International Airport, where they testified that the X-ray machine – while checking the accused’s bags – showed the presence of electronic cigarettes containing a narcotic liquid inside them, and as a result the accused was detained, and evidenced by the chemical laboratory report. Either that the seized cigarettes contain narcotic substance.

The investigator testified to the validity of the fact that the narcotics were seized and possessed by the accused with the intention of using them.
