AI, Value-Based Care Take Center Stage at HIMSS 2025
The HIMSS 2025 conference highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, alongside discussions on security, value-based care, and the evolution of medical devices.
Saul Marquez, recapping the event, noted AI’s prominent presence in vendor exhibits.This has increased the focus on security and governance to ensure AI is deployed safely and effectively, while also addressing clinician workload and scalability. The push toward value-based care, often inspired by Medicare Advantage, is another key theme. Technology is being used for digital transformation, chronic care management, and population health.
Marquez also pointed out that medical device companies are moving beyond conventional hardware. They are now integrating software to improve interoperability and scalability through Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).
