Hindu Mahasabha Calls for City-Wide Shutdown: Gwalior to Protest Bangladesh T20 Match
Hindu Mahasabha Protests India-Bangladesh T20 Match in Gwalior
Bhopal: The Hindu Mahasabha has announced a bandh in Gwalior on October 6, the day of the India-Bangladesh T20 match, in protest against the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.
The organization’s National Vice President, Jayveer Bharadwaj, stated that Hindus have been tortured and temples vandalized in Bangladesh, prompting the decision to protest the match. “We will not allow the competition to take place here. The Bangladesh team will face protests when they arrive in Gwalior,” said Bhardwaj.
Although a bandh has been called, essential items will not be affected. The Gwalior district police have assured that all necessary security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. ”This is not a large organization that poses a significant threat to the law and order situation. Adequate measures have been taken to ensure people’s safety,” said a police officer.
The India-Bangladesh T20 match, scheduled for October 6, will be the first international cricket match to be held in Gwalior after 14 years. The last international competition at the venue was in 2010. The match will take place at the 30,000-capacity Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium.
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has downplayed the threat, stating that security precautions have been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents or damage.
