Historic Discovery: Botswana Unveils Second Largest Diamond within the World at Karoo Mine

The second largest diamond mined on the planet is the South African nation of Botswana. Lucara Diamond Company, a Canadian diamond mining firm, stated 2,492 carats of diamonds have been discovered on the Karoo mine.

The corporate has launched footage of the diamond that was discovered. The photographs launched present it to be in regards to the measurement of a palm. It was after 120 years {that a} diamond of this measurement was found. The biggest diamond ever mined in 1905 was 3,106 carats. The Cullinan Diamond is now a part of the British Royal Household’s jewelery assortment.

Botswana is the world’s largest producer of diamonds. Diamonds account for 30 p.c of home manufacturing and 80 p.c of exports. The biggest diamond ever present in Botswana is the 1,758-carat Sevelo, found in 2019 on the Karoway mine.
However Bloomberg reviews that it has not been capable of produce high quality diamonds. One carat is 0.2 carats of diamond.
