Historic Encounter: Guinea-Bissau President and First Lady Touch Down in Hanoi for Landmark Vietnam Visit
Vietnam and Guinea-Bissau Strengthen Multifaceted Cooperation
Vietnam has consistently prioritized traditional friendship in its foreign policy, seeking to develop multifaceted cooperation with friendly African nations, including Guinea-Bissau.
Guinea-Bissau, in turn, considers Vietnam a key cooperation partner and is eager to expand practical and effective cooperation across various fields in the coming years.
The two nations have a long-standing trade relationship, with Vietnam serving as Guinea-Bissau’s third-largest export market globally. Guinea-Bissau has been one of the top five suppliers of cashew nuts to Vietnam in Africa for many years.
Bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Guinea-Bissau spans multiple areas, including culture, economy, trade, industry, and science and technology. The two nations regularly coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.
During recent bilateral meetings, both sides agreed to increase high-level visits, coordinate international support, and share experiences in socio-economic development and policy-making. They also aim to promote information exchange, business connections, and key trade items such as cashew nuts, while exploring new opportunities in agricultural products and textiles.
Regarding agricultural cooperation, Vietnam is committed to supporting Guinea-Bissau’s agricultural development through bilateral or tripartite projects, ultimately contributing to the country’s food security and self-sufficiency.
The upcoming 4-day visit of Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his wife to Vietnam is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relationship and explore new avenues for cooperation.
