Gator-on-the-Green: A Unique Golf Experience in Naples
Golfers at the TwinEagles golf community in Naples, Florida, witnessed an unusual event this week. Greg Irving hit a golf ball that landed perfectly on the back of a calm alligator.
Irving and his friend Joe Pack were enjoying their game when they heard other golfers yelling. Initially confused, Irving discovered his ball resting on the gator. He commented, “I could have hardly placed it any more perfectly.”
Pack and Irving couldn’t help but laugh. They recognized the humorous side of the situation. Despite the potential danger, the alligator stayed still, allowing them to enjoy the moment. Pack mentioned the water hazard was already risky, and adding an alligator made it a “double hazard.” Irving said he was happy to leave the ball on the gator.
The next day, Irving returned to the course, returning to the same area where the gator had been. He felt lucky, as he managed to play well on the following holes.
Local golfers noted that the area has plenty of wildlife, making it a unique place to play. The gator continues to be part of the golf course’s charm.
