Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships saw a thrilling victory for Han Yue of the national team, as she clinched the women’s singles championship title.
Han Yue, the third seed, faced off against Indonesian player Hua Danny for the fourth time in her career. Having won the previous three encounters, including the second round of the last Hong Kong Open, Han Yue was determined to make it four in a row.
The match began with both players taking the lead, but Han Yue soon opened up a five-point gap, showcasing her exceptional skills. Although Hua Danny narrowed the gap to one point, Han Yue’s dominance prevailed, and she won the first game 21-18.
Han Yue continued to impress in the second game, employing her “fly the kite” strategy to keep Hua Danny on her toes. This tactic proved effective, as Han Yue led the game from start to finish, winning 21-7.
With this victory, Han Yue secured her first tour championship of the season in Hong Kong. Her previous best result was runner-up in the Thailand Open in May.
National Team Dominates Mixed Doubles Final
The national team also made a strong showing in the mixed doubles final, with the second seeds, Chiang Chun-bang and Wei Ya-xin, facing off against the top seeds, Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping.
Chiang Chun-bang and Wei Ya-xin won the first game 21-7, setting the tone for the match. Despite falling behind 1-6 in the early stages of the second game, they mounted a 12-2 offensive, reversing the lead to 13-8.
Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping fought back, tying the game at 19, but Chiang Chun-bang and Wei Ya-xin adjusted their strategy and scored two consecutive points, winning 21-19.
Wei Ya-xin, who won the championship with Guo Xinwa in the previous session, stood on the highest point of the podium once again, this time with her partner Chiang Chun-bang.
