Boy, 15, Dies Following Co down Hit-And-Run
A community is in mourning after a 15-year-old boy tragically died following a hit-and-run incident in County Down.
Ballynahinch, Co Down – A devastating hit-and-run incident has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy in County Down, sending shockwaves through the local community.the young victim was struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening, and the driver of the car involved failed to stop at the scene.
The tragic event occurred on the evening of saturday,July 6th,on the Circular Road in Ballynahinch. Emergency services were called to the scene, but sadly, the boy was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police have launched a major investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.detective Inspector Joanne Nelson stated, “This is a devastating tragedy for the family and for the wider community. We are appealing to anyone who was in the Circular Road area on Saturday evening and may have seen anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us.”
The driver of the vehicle involved is still at large, and police are urging them to surrender themselves. “We are also appealing directly to the driver of the vehicle involved to do the right thing and come forward,” DI Nelson added. “We need to speak to you to understand what happened.”
The community has been quick to express its grief and offer support to the victim’s family. Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene, a poignant reminder of the young life lost. Local community leaders have called for calm and unity as the investigation continues.
The investigation is ongoing,and police are examining CCTV footage from the area and conducting house-to-house inquiries. They have also established a dedicated incident room at Downpatrick Police Station.

Update: A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run. He was questioned by detectives and has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. The investigation continues.
