Addressing Ongoing HIV ⁢Diagnoses in Europe

Despite significant ⁤progress in HIV prevention strategies, over 100,000 new‍ HIV diagnoses are still reported annually within teh World Health Institution European Region. ⁢This underscores the continued need for ⁢innovative prevention tools and approaches.

Real-World Data on Cabotegravir⁤ Long-Acting (CAB-LA) for PrEP

Between December 2024 and August⁤ 2025, two specialized HIV/sexually transmitted infection ⁣centers in Italy initiated a program ⁤offering long-acting injectable cabotegravir (CAB-LA) as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to 265 individuals. This implementation followed⁤ the 2024 recommendation for CAB-LA in European guidelines, but represents some of the first real-world data collected outside of clinical trials within Europe.

Initial Findings on Adherence and Safety

Early results, as detailed in a recent rapid dialog, focus on the characteristics of participants, their motivations for choosing CAB-LA, and initial outcomes⁣ related to adherence, how well the medication was ⁢tolerated, safety profiles, ⁤and reasons for⁣ any treatment discontinuations. further analysis will provide a more comprehensive ⁢understanding of the long-term effectiveness ‍and impact⁤ of this preventative measure.
